Terms of Service
The rules for using Unpause
The short version
- You own your videos. You give us permission to process them only so we can make your edits.
- Only upload footage you have the right to use, including any brand content under contract or NDA.
- Edits are automatic. Review them before you post.
- We delete uploads and edits 7 days after processing, so save what you want to keep.
1. Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Unpause ("we", "us"), which runs Unpause (the website, the app and related services). By reserving a founding spot, creating an account or using Unpause, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Unpause.
2. Who can use Unpause
You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use Unpause and to make purchases. If you use Unpause for a business, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it.
3. Your account
Keep your login secure and tell us right away if you think someone else is using your account. You're responsible for activity on your account.
4. What Unpause does
Unpause automatically removes pauses, filler words and repeated takes from videos you upload, and lets you adjust and export the result. Edits are made by software and may sometimes cut too much or too little. Review every edit before you publish it. We're continually improving Unpause, so features may change.
5. Founding memberships
- A founding membership is a one-time payment (currently $59, plus any tax shown at checkout) for 12 months of the Creator plan, starting on the day Unpause launches publicly. It does not renew automatically.
- Founding members get early access before the public launch, planned for December 15, 2026.
- Refunds work as described in our Refund Policy, including an automatic full refund if Unpause isn't live by December 15, 2026.
- Founding memberships are personal and can't be transferred or resold. The number available is limited and is shown on the website.
6. Subscriptions and free trials
- Auto-renewal: paid plans (for example $14.99 a month or $119.99 a year) renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price until you cancel.
- Free trials: if you start a free trial, you'll be charged when it ends unless you cancel before then. The app shows the trial length, the price and the date you'll be charged before you start.
- Where you're billed: purchases in the iPhone app are billed by Apple, and in the Android app by Google. Purchases on our website, including founding memberships, are sold to you by Stripe as our authorized reseller (merchant of record). Stripe calculates and collects any sales tax or VAT, and its customer terms also apply to the payment. Our service is still provided by us under these terms.
- Cancelling: cancel an in-app subscription in your phone's subscription settings, and a website subscription from the link in your receipt or by emailing us. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Price changes: we'll tell you in advance, and changes apply from your next renewal. You can cancel before then.
7. Edit allowances
Each plan includes a monthly number of edits. One edit means one uploaded video turned into one finished video. Re-editing the same video (for example, changing how tight the cut is) doesn't use another edit. Unused edits don't roll over. Videos can be up to 15 minutes long and 2 GB in size. We may limit use that's clearly abusive or automated.
8. Your content
- You own your videos and your edits.
- You give us a limited, non-exclusive permission to store, process, transcribe and render your videos only to provide Unpause to you. This permission ends when your content is deleted. We don't use your content to train AI models and don't use it in our marketing without your separate written permission.
- We delete uploads, edits and transcripts automatically 7 days after processing. Save the edits you want to keep. We're not responsible for content lost after deletion.
9. Your responsibilities
You confirm that you own, or have all the rights and permissions needed for, everything you upload. That includes footage of other people and content you make for brands or clients under contracts or NDAs. You agree not to use Unpause to:
- upload anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else's rights;
- upload sexual content involving minors, content that exploits or harms children, or non-consensual intimate content;
- harass, defame or deceive people, or create content that impersonates someone without permission;
- break, overload, reverse-engineer or get around the limits of the service.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, and report illegal content where required.
10. Our property
Unpause, its software, design and brand belong to us. You may use the app as provided but may not copy, resell or build a competing service from it.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Unpause and delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk. If we shut down Unpause, we'll give reasonable notice and refund any prepaid time that hasn't been used.
12. Disclaimers
Unpause is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that every edit will meet your expectations.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost profits, lost deals or lost content), and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
14. Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because of content you uploaded or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, to the extent the law allows.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For meaningful changes we'll notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Unpause after that, the new terms apply.
